BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – A Brookfield new build becomes a gracious home with interiors carefully chosen to reflect the owner’s love of timeless treasures, their interests and personalities. Classic and well-loved pieces sit comfortably with sophisticated fittings creating a compelling blend of old and new.
“For nine months I have had the pleasure of working closely with the owners of this Brookfield property to put together a casual but sophisticated interior in their beautiful new build.
“This is a family home that is filled with pieces that have a history and which tell stories. The rooms are spacious and airy with large windows and doors, bringing the outside in.
“My intention with each room was to embrace the vast spaces and pull together the textural details used in the build. This is a home with a wonderful combination of stone, cement and timber, and although it is brand new, it has the feeling that it has been standing for a long time. These finishes will wear beautifully and will not date.
“All fabrics are 100% natural, and linen was the favourite in all our choices. The windows have wonderful height and breadth, so a combination of sheers and layering was used to bring a softness and fullness to each room. The detail was found in the texture of the fabrics and not in the fittings, resulting in simplicity and elegance.
All new furniture was sourced to fit in with existing pieces and to blend seamlessly with texture, tones and the finishes used in the build; allowing the old and the new to blend.
Each room was put together to suit the personality of the family members and accommodate their hobbies and interests.
It is bitter-sweet having completed this acreage property. I feel truly privileged to have had the opportunity to work on this home and to see how, as it unfolded, it brought much pleasure to both the owners and to myself.
Testimony by the owner, Bronwyn.
“I first met Nicci Freeman while I was in the midst of building my “forever” home. Our meeting was quite by chance and one for which I will always be grateful.
“I knew that I wanted to employ the services of an interior designer to help with the finishing touches of my home, but every time I opened a glossy home magazine to find one I felt intimidated and unsure which designer to choose. So I put it all in the “too hard” basket.
“Nicci arrived on my doorstep one day and introduced herself. I liked her instantly. We chatted, and I felt very comfortable around her. I decided then and there that I had met my interior designer.
There are many aspects of Nicci’s personality that made her so easy to work with. I loved the way that from the start we both agreed that it was okay for either of us to say no to an idea that we didn’t like.
“In the end, I don’t think I did say no to any of her suggestions as they were all so in tune with my vision for my home. Nicci listens. She translated my style perfectly.
“When it came to working in my children’s rooms, Nicci took the time to get to know the children and their interests and created such beautiful spaces for each of them that reflected their personalities perfectly. Each bedroom is different to the other, but all work seamlessly with the overall style of my home.
“Nicci’s design advice has steered me through many challenging decisions from exterior blinds, pool coping tiles, shed colours and lights, to, of course, interior furniture and soft furnishings. I have never ceased to be impressed with how Nicci always found the perfect piece of furniture, art or fabric for every project I sent her way.
“When I rang Nicci with the news that I was moving overseas and that my forever home would be rented out, I could tell that she felt my disappointment! Always positive, Nicci studied the floor plan of the home that I would be renting in England and together we worked out a plan for furniture placement. It is my intention to continue to employ Nicci’s services while living overseas as working with her has given me so much satisfaction and enjoyment.
“I thoroughly recommend Nicci to anyone needing a little or a lot of guidance with interior and exterior home styling. I will very much miss working with her but will not hesitate in using her again for my next project.”
